EMILIE PRIA

Emilie Pria is a visual artist and musician. After obtaining a BSc in mathematics at King's College and a MSc at Imperial College (London), she joined the Kourtrajmé School (Clichy-sous-Bois) in 2020 in the "Art and Image" class directed by JR. At the end of this training, she participated in the group exhibition Until Here Everything Is Fine at the Palais de Tokyo (Paris), curated by Hugo Vitrani, Mathieu Kassovitz, Ladj Ly and JR, where she presented her installation-performance “La Chambre de Sarah”. In 2021, she exhibited at Château La Coste (Provence) at the end of a collective residency, then carried out a photographic intervention, as part of the Parcours Saint-Germain (Paris), on the Morris columns. The same year, she was in residence at the Villa Lena (Tuscany) and the Hotel Expérimenta (Corrèze). In 2024, Émilie Pria trained at the National School of Florists in Paris and obtained her CAP in floral design. She then joined the botanical studio Thyrse whose work, at the crossroads of fashion, art and design, renews the codes of botanical scenography and floral composition.

Of Romanian origin, Emilie & Stéphanie Pria learned the piano at an early age from the conductor Teodor Cosma. In 2021, they formed the musical duo named PRIA. Their debut EP, Who Will See Me Then, released in 2025, explores themes of the sacred and magic, resonating with their Franco-Romanian cultural heritage.

Emilie & Stéphanie Pria's work explores the disintegration of matter, whether organic or sound, and takes into account disappearance and transformation. They propose a method of observing reality based on observation, in opposition to the distancing view of the living allowing oppressive systems.

The herbarium, which inhabits their work, acts as an inventory of memory, but also as a tool for preserving present and past awareness. From their Romanian cultural heritage, they are familiar with plants, a knowledge transmitted by their grandmother, and they strive to make sense of the void by inventing a new comprehension.
