ADA ZIELINSKA

Ada Zielińska is a visual artist based in Warsaw, working primarily with photography, video, and installation. Her practice focuses on the concept of destruction as a prerequisite for rebirth, functioning as a form of self-therapy. She explores catastrophic events—both real and staged—not simply as documentation, but as a way to examine their aesthetics and the emotions they generate.

Drawing on the notion of post-photography, Zielińska deliberately constructs highly photogenic environments that invite viewers to engage with and reflect on the emotional and aesthetic impact of her work. By extending this approach to the audience, she encourages an active exploration of the tension between beauty, destruction, and emotional response.

She studied Media Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, graduating in 2015, and in 2020 received a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) from the Institute of Creative Photography at the University of Silesia in Opava, Czech Republic.

Her work has been presented in numerous institutions in Poland and in galleries abroad. In 2025, she presented a solo exhibition in Belgium during the Photo Brussels Festival and participated in major institutional exhibitions at the Centre for Contemporary Art Ujazdowski Castle in Warsaw and the Capa Center in Budapest. Her work has also been shown during Paris Design Week, Warsaw Gallery Weekend, and at the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw and in Kraków.

Zielińska has received grants from the Cultural Programme of the Polish Presidency of the European Union (2025), Young Poland (2020), Futures Photography Programme (2021), and Nature Future – Young European Photography Programme (2022). She was a finalist of the Palm Photography Prize in 2020 and 2021.
