FLORICA MARIAN
“My paintings are a celebration of colors and landscapes surrounding me – mountains, lakes, trees and flowers - with the ever-changing light during a day, a season, a year. Moments and fragments captured in my scrapbook, reborn as colorful improvisations on canvas and nourished by memory. I work in cycles and series lasting 365 days - one day is equal to one painting – creating a tribute to each day, remembering an instant, a color, an emotion. As a further step in the painting process, I recompose the 365-day paintings within triptychs and polyptychs, exploring harmonies, dissonances, rhythms and contrasts. Moving between figuration and abstraction, between representation and dissolution, where emptiness and diffusion become portals to interior worlds that transcend the canvas."
