Originally from the North West of the UK, I moved to Switzerland 17 years ago, drawn by the mountains and the opportunities they offered for skiing, hiking and exploring the outdoors.

Although I had always enjoyed photography, it wasn’t until 2020 that I really discovered my love for being behind the camera. During the Covid period, I decided it was time to find out what all those dials and buttons actually did, move away from Auto mode and properly learn the craft of photography.

Through countless tutorials, plenty of advice and inspiration from my father and his photography, and the work of photographers such as Nigel Danson and Ansel Adams, I began to develop my own approach. Living in Suisse Romande has given me an incredible landscape in which to practise, experiment and continually hone my skills.

My love of skiing and ski touring has also allowed me to take my camera into places that are often less accessible, giving me the opportunity to capture the mountains from different perspectives and in constantly changing conditions. For me, much of the enjoyment comes from trying to do justice to the scale, atmosphere and beauty of these landscapes.

Photography has changed the way I explore. It gives me a reason to head out even on the bleakest winter days or when the weather isn't particularly inviting for a hike. There is always something to look for: light breaking through the clouds, fresh snow, mist moving through a valley, or simply a different way of seeing a familiar landscape.

I am still learning, both behind the camera and in the editing process, and that is a large part of what I enjoy about photography. It has given me an even greater desire to explore, to seek out new places and, most importantly, to capture what I see along the way.
